I'm planning on heading to the Amalfi coast with some friends and looking for some places to stay. I hear Naples isn't that nice and wanted to see if anyone has stayed in other towns in the Amalfi area. Someplace by the beach with at least a couple places to go out would be best. Or maybe someone has stayed someplace nice within Naples?
Personally, I'd avoid Naples all together and head up to the lake district of Italy. I backpacked around Lake Como and had a fantastic - and suprisingly affordable - time in Bellagio. There are a ton of places to stay and you can get a one day boat pass to visit other nearby villages throughout the day.
