Good question - I wonder that as well. There also used to be the best hostel in London, but I hear it closed down. It was called Wake-Up London. xxx idea if they plan to reopen elsewhere in London, but what an awesome joint. Wish they were still there.

If you're looking for a long term place to stay, I'd recommend looking for some sort of sublet rather than a hostel. You could also consider doing some sort of apartment exchange through Craigslist, I heard it works as well.

Yes, I think apart-hotels are the best way to go. Depending on the city, I could recommend a few good ones. And, you can always check craigslist for sublets or apartment swaps.

I don't agree. I think you should find the hostel you want to stay in and write or call them and ask them if you can work for them. Some of my friends have worked at hostels in England and Ireland and they just worked at the front desk and cleaned the rooms. Just contact the hostel directly and ask! You might stay for free,

Nice call Tatiana! I have a friend who did the same thing and had a great experience for 4 weeks at a London hostel and even got to co-host their trivia night.

That's a waste of money, sweetie. If you're staying for five months it would be cheaper to rent.
