Cumberland House was built in 1907, and was for many years a family home. In approximately 1975 it first became a Bed & Breakfast establishment. The house has undergone various changes over the years to improve and modernise the comfort required by all the weary travellers passing through Gatwick Airport, including En-Suite Bathrooms and free Wireless Internet Access. Carmel and Clive continue this good work to make a home away from home for you, at Gatwick.

Location:
Cumberland House is set on the outskirts of a small town called Horley, on the Surrey/Sussex Borders. Situated only 2 miles (2.5km) from Gatwick Airport and yet is away from the flight path, therefore; you should not hear any aircraft noise.
Cumberland House can be easily found by road as it is positioned on the main A23 Brighton Road. The location is just wonderful to enable you to catch your connecting flight in the morning. We know you will appreciate how near we actually are to Gatwick Airport.

Staff:
We are a family run Bed & Breakfast. There are only the two of us. Clive and Carmel. Occasionally you may meet our sons. We are both receptionists, Clive is the driver, Carmel is the cook, Clive is the Waiter, Carmel is the washer-upper.

Fun:
If it is wild parties you are after Cumberland House is not the place for you! Although on saying that we do have a night club in the town centre, if you have the energy to dance the night away!! Being so near to Gatwick Airport you will choose to stay at Cumberland House basically because you need to be near to the airport. Perhaps you will have an early morning flight. Most people arrive here after a busy holiday in Europe and are so relieved just to have an early night before flying home. Ye Olde Six Bells; a 16th Century Pub is only 2 minutes walk from our front door.

Cleanliness:
Cumberland House has been described by previous guests as immaculate. The Crisp White Cotton Sheets and White Bath Towels are all changed daily. Our comfortable mattresses are sanitised daily. The house is totally non-smoking.

Breakfast:
This is everyones favourite time of day from 7am to 9am. The Full English:- Bacon, egg, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, hash brown and baked tomato. We offer Traditional English, Vegetarian and Gluten Free Breakfasts.

Courtesy Transfers:
The Free Courtesy Transfers to and from Cumberland House and Gatwick, are during the hours of 05:00 and midnight. Our pick-up-point at both North and South Terminals is at The Courtesy Coaches Stop; on the arrivals floor. Please dial 8686 on the Free Phone to advise us that you are ready, this phone can be found at the Courtesy Coaches Stop.

Check In Time.
Check in Time can be flexible by arrangement. You must let us know your flight number and estimated time of arrival at Gatwick.
Check Out Time is 10:00hrs.

Useful Information:
In England a twin room has 2 separate beds suitable to sleep 1 person in each bed and a double room has one bed suitable to sleep 2 people.

Security:
Security is of utmost importance at Cumberland House. Carmel and Clive live on the premises and are on-hand for any help you need throughout your stay. The Free Courtesy Transfers to and from Gatwick during the hours of 05:00 and midnight, are appreciated by everyone. Cumberland House has a Valid Fire Risk Assessment Certificate and all electrical appliances are tested by a qualified electrician and are up to UK Standard. Cumberland House is totally Non Smoking and you will find smoke alarms and heat detectors throughout the house.
