About Gibbshill Bunkhouse

Converted from an old Hay Barn, the bunkhouse accommodates up to 20 people in 3 rooms. Two rooms have 6 bunks and one room has 8 bunks.

Catering for those guests who require budget accommodation, there are 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting and dining area and lockable storage compartments.

The bunkhouse will be centrally heated throughout and to reduce energy consumption, the barn is insulated with special panels and low energy light bulbs are used throughout. The kitchen, dining and lounge area are on the first floor and to the rear is a large decking area where guests may enjoy the evening sun and access the stables by the wooden staircase.

A drying room and laundry facilities and safe cycle storage complete the project.

Bunkhouse accommodation is available for group lettings or short break stays.

Basic items of food may be purchased. A hairdryer is provided in each shower room, and a payphone is situated in the foyer.

Guests may order in the evening for the next day from the farmhouse:

Full english breakfast @ £5.00 per person,
Packed lunches @ £5.00 per person

Please note: you must provide your own sleeping bag, however linen is for hire @£3.00 for sheets, duvet and pillow.

Directions

From the A69, turn north at Bardon Mill, signposted 'Once Brewed' and 'Hadrian's Wall'.

Follow the Tourist Information signs towards 'Housesteads'.
At the B6318, turn right and then immediately left towards 'Steel Rigg'.

Follow the road over the brow of the hill, having passed 'Steel Rigg' car park on your right.

After about one mile there is a turning onto the right - signposted 'Gibbs Hill'. Follow that road until the end, about one mile.

If you have no car, take the train or bus to Hexham or Haltwhistle and then get the Hadrians Walll AD122 bus to Oncebrewed. Alight at Information Centre and walk north over Roman Wall to Gibbs Hill. Do not get off train or bus at Haydon Bridge or Bardon Mill.
