Property Description

This 200-year-old mansion is ideally situated for a relaxing family or group break. Boasting extensive grounds with a large play area and woodlands, children will find plenty of space in which to vent excess energy. It's also right on the shore of Derwentwater, which many say is the most picturesque lake in Britain, and has a waterfall in the grounds.

The lake itself will keep you occupied for days - children can paddle while the more adventurous can take part in a wide variety of water sports. Catch the launch nearby and stop off at any of the six jetties to explore the shoreline. There is also a selection of spectacular walks to suit all levels.

Meals available:
Breakfast, picnic lunch and evening meal.
Evening meal at 19.00 hrs

Getting there: From Keswick, follow the signs to Borrowdale.
The hostel is 2 miles south on the Borrowdale road (B5289),
100 metres on the left past the turn off to Watendlath. Walkers should follow the lakeside path from Keswick.
Public transport: Bus: Stagecoach in Cumbria 79 Keswick-Seatoller. (For train connections see Keswick).
Rail: Penrith 20 miles, Windermere 24.
National Express Keswick 2.25 miles.
