Auberge du Balestié is ideally placed in the heart of the Cathare Country 4 kilometres from the medieval town of Mirepoix, just 35 kilometres from Carcassonne. There is no public transport from Carcassonne, so it is essential to have a vehicle.
This peaceful, small hotel is owned and run by an English family who warmly welcome you to this peaceful corner of Ariège. Come and relax by Balestié Lake and admiring the magnificent view of the Pyrenees or taking advantage of the many outdoor activities available nearby.
The GR7 walking trail passes right alongside the Auberge du Balestie; there is also a variant of the Way of Saint James that leads to St Jean-de-Pied de Port. There are several other walking, mountain biking and horse riding trails around the hotel.
In the hotel restaurant we offer a full 'à la carte' service and a range of menus of traditional, regional cuisine with prices from 16? to ?30. Vegetarian and child menus are also available.
There are several comfortable and tastefully furnished rooms at Auberge du Balestie. Guests may choose to have a room with shared or private bathroom facilities.
There is a private guest car park.
