Property Description

Tournesol is in the small hamlet of La Rallerie in the lovely Vienne Valley, a two minute walk from the picturesque River Vienne and excellent coarse fishing.

The house has been recently restored to its former glory, incorporating the original fireplace and exposed beams, parquet flooring and tiled floors.

The Sunflower Room has a king size double bed and a traditionally made single bed, bedside tables and chairs, and an ensuite shower cubical, hand basin and separate toilet.

The Lavender Room has a warm pine panelled finish and a king size bed, bedside tables with reading lamps and a window view over the garden. There is a en-suites bathroom with bath, hand basin and wc.

Continental breakfast is included. Full English breakfast is available on request at a small additional charge. Hairdryers, bicycles and Internet connection are available. There is also private parking and a guest patio garden area.

The villages of Gouex, Queaux and Persac, all within a few minutes drive, have a range of amenities and restaurants and the whole area is ideally suited for cross-country walking and cycling. Poitiers is 40 km from here. Futuroscope, the vast science and technology park just outside Poitiers offers a feast for the whole family.

The Vienne river has a plentiful supply of bream, carp, catfish, perch, roach, pike and sondre pike/perch. Lake Persac is stocked with carp and only ten minutes away. Packed lunches are available on request and a fishing licence can be arranged. You can also walk or cycle alongside the river to the next village (5 km), which has a riverside park with swimming and picnic areas, or go Bungy jumping at the famous viaduct in l'Isle Jourdain.

The whole region is overflowing with historic towns and cities. The Marais Poitevin is a network of waterways with beautiful, tranquil scenery where you can hire boats for the day. Cognac country, the Thouet, Gartempe and Angun valleys and the lovely town of Montmorillon are other places worth visiting. The Circuit du Val de Vienne is a motor racing track in Le Vigeant, 30 minutes away. Limoges, famous for its porcelain, is about 80 minutes South of here.

The Atlantic coast, beaches and water sports at La Rochelle and the off shore islands of Ré and Oléron, Royan and Rochefort are all about 90 minutes.
