36 Rue de la Croix St. Simon, Paris
The nearest metro station is 'Porte de Montreuil' on line number 9. It's a two minute walk to the Hotel Armstrong: just go up the tree-lined avenue on the left-hand pavement (past the clothes/shoe shops and laundrette) and you will find the hotel in the first road on your left.
Transport to the hotel from the airports:
Taxis from either of the Paris airports cost about 40 Euros: depending on the traffic this should take you approximately 40 minutes and is the quickest way to get to the hotel.
However, for the intrepid backpackers a bus service from the Charles de Gaulle airport is practical. First take the free shuttle service which runs every 10 minutes to the 'Aerogare Roissypole' from the airport. Then take the 351 RATP bus direction 'Nation') which leaves from platform E just 20 yards from where the shuttle drops you off. This service takes approximately one hour. It runs every half hour from 6am to 9pm seven days a week. The cost one-way is about 4 Euros per person (you buy three tickets on the bus from the driver). You should get off at the 'Porte de Montreuil' stop which is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Ask the driver to indicate the stop once you have left the motorway on arrival in Paris.
How to reach the hotel by car:
1a/ If you are approaching Paris by motorway from the north, you should branch off the A1 just after the Charles de Gaulle airport and take the A3 motorway into Paris (it is indicated 'A3 Paris - Est'). When arriving at the outskirts of Paris take the ring-road going south ('Périphérique - Sud') and take the first exit from the périphérique at 'Porte de Montreuil'. You will climb up onto a large roundabout and should take the second exit off it where it is indicated 'Pte. de Montreuil'.
1b/ If you are approaching Paris from the east (A4) or the south (A6) take the 'périphérique' ring-road either north ('nord') or east ('est') and exit at 'Porte de Montreuil'. You will climb up onto a large roundabout and should exit on the opposite side where it is indicated 'Pte. de Montreuil'.
2/ Turn right at the McDonald's along the 'Boulevard Davout' and then sharp left at the first set of traffic lights. Cross over the next set of lights and the Hotel Armstrong will be in front of you on the left.
How to reach the hotel from the Gare du Nord train station (for arrivals by the Eurostar):
Metro :
Take the metro line n° 5 direction ' Place d'Italie ' and get off at ' République ' . Then take the metro line n° 9 direction ' Mairie de Montreuil ' and get off at ' Porte de Montreuil ' . It should take you half an hour and the cost for a single ticket per person is 1.40 Euros. The hotel is just 2 minutes walk from the ' Porte de Montreuil ' metro station : follow the left-hand pavement on the main boulevard (boulevard Davout) going past the clothes/shoe shops and laundrette and you will find the Hotel Armstrong in the first road on the left.
For those arriving by public transport we advise vigilance with regard to pickpockets - particularly in the main stations, the metro and the most touristy areas. Please keep purses and wallets in a safe place to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
