Villa des Princes, in the heart of intellectual left-bank, puts you in the perfect spot if you like seeing swarms of students or enjoy browsing bookstores. It's close to the Seine, Saint-Germain des Pres, and the Latin Quarter and dates back to the 17th-century, when the Villa was originally a townhouse belonging to the Prince de Cond?.
Villa des Princes is a pretty, quiet hotel and offers only 12 rooms, making it so intimate it's almost shy! The rooms are snug with contemporary wood veneer furnishings and thin curtains in warm red and orange tones. The lobby is embellished with old Paris antiques, including an old piano, and exposed wooden beams.
Note: This would be a fantastic place for those looking for hostel prices, but wanting a more luxurious experience.
This hotel is super cute and in a fantastic location. It is fairly small and each room has it's own Paris-inspired name. I'll admit, the elevator is TINY but who cares. It's close to everything that makes St. Germain des Pres fun, although the external rooms could get noisy.
Also, don't go to the restaurant "Les Editeurs" that is directly down the street - it's a total rip off.
My husband and I just spent 4 nights at Villa des Princes. The rooms are small, but everything else is wonderful. Helpful, friendly staff, beautiful antiques throughout the building, an amazing location (steps to Blvd St. Germain and a ten minute walk to the Latin Quarter) and a reasonable price. What more could you ask for?
