  • "A wonderful, mysterious place!"

  • Under the management of a super friendly staff that will make you feel right at home, the Hotel-Garni Flora is a second-floor pension on the north side of the Hauptbahnhof that originally opened in 1946.

Flora seems to be full of tricks -- the twisting entrance appears to lead to nowhere, and they boast limited reception hours. In time, you'll find that the entrance does actually lead to a hostel that has an eager and excited international staff (which consists of a night porter that remains on duty throughout the night).

Overall, Flora is a great catch, even if a bit scruffy in some spots. The rooms aren't glamorous but they're clean and comfy. Many of them are beautifully dated in a seductive 1970s type of manner. Half the rooms have private bathrooms, which are full of surprises and little treasures. Avocado colored tiles are complimented by a matching toilet on a platform. It's cute even if a bit obsolete.

Located in the city centre, near the Stiglmaierplatz and only 5 minutes from the Hauptbahnhof (main station), the hotel is the ideal base from which to reach business meetings in the city and the surrounding area - the Riem Exhibition Centre is 20 minutes away by public transport. The Flora is also the perfect place to stay if you want to go shopping or sightseeing in the picturesque city of Munich - sightseeing tours by bus, bike or on foot can be booked at reception.

Many of Munich's major attractions and leisure facilities are within easy walking distance.

If you prefer to use public transport, tram lines 20 and 21 stop right outside the hotel and can take you to the old town and beyond in under 5 minutes. Or you can use the suburban railway (S-Bahn) or underground (U-Bahn) to reach the outskirts of Munich and more distant places of interest such as Dachau (former concentration camp) and Nymphenburg Castle. Tickets and maps are available at reception, and we will be pleased to help you find your way around Munich.

How to Get Here

By Train

Your train will stop at München Hauptbahnhof, the main station in Munich. From there, the hotel is five minutes' walk away. Leave the station on the northern side and turn into the Dachauerstrasse (following the route of trams 20 and 21). After two blocks you will find the Hotel Pension Flora on the left-hand side, at the corner of the Dachauerstrasse and Karlstrasse. Alternatively, you can take tram number 20 or 21 to reach the hotel - alight two stops beyond the Hauptbahnhof at the Karlstrasse stop; you will find the hotel right in front of you.

By Air

Flights to Munich land at Franz Josef Strauss Airport, about 45 minutes (35 km) from the city centre and the main station (Hauptbahnhof). To reach the Hauptbahnhof from the airport, you can take the suburban railway (S-Bahn) (Euro 8,00, line number 8), shuttle bus (Euro 8,50) or a taxi (approx. Euro 50). Once at the station, follow the directions above to get to the hotel.

By Car

Whether you are approaching from Salzburg, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart or elsewhere, all routes to Munich converge on the Mittlerer Ring motorway, the city's ring road. Once on the Mittlerer Ring, you should follow the signs to the Hauptbahnhof (main station), which is two blocks south of the Karlstrasse. Alternatively, stay on the Mittlerer Ring until you see the Olympiapark Olympic Games Complex, then leave the Mittlerer Ring and follow the Dachauerstrasse until the intersection with the Karlstrasse. Please note that we have a very small number of parking spaces (EUR 10 per night); however, once you have unloaded we will be happy to help you find a public parking place where you can leave your car safe in the knowledge that Munich is Germany's safest city!
