Here you will be amongst some of the friendliest locals in Ireland, genuinely interested in making your stay in Aughrim something to write home about. There are regular live traditional Irish music sessions, with travelling musicians always welcome to come in and give us a tune!

Auld Shillelagh Bar is full of old Irish memorabilia hanging from the walls and ceiling including artifacts from the famous 1691 Battle of Aughrim. The conclusion must be that a stay at Auld Shillelagh Hostel and you have the Battle of Aughrim won!

There are many amenities and places of interest in the area. For leisure a game of snooker, pool, darts or cards. Play the numerous golf courses (Ballinasloe, Loughrea, Portumna to name but a few) in the area. Visit Kilconnell Abbey, Clonfert Cathedral, Clonmacnoise, Aughrim Heritage Centre & Museum, the Ballinasloe Horse Fair (first week in October) and the Aughrim Music Festival (held on August Bank Holiday).

Unsere Anlage ist nur 2 Meilen entfernt vom pulsierenden Stadtzentrum und auf dem historischen Boden der Universität von Galway zu finden. port head for M50 / From Dun Laoire ferry again head for M50 following WEST signs. There is a Toll Bridge on the M50 from the airport - current charge ?1.30 Euro per car. From M50 take exit for West of Ireland - N6. Head for Kinnegad - 37 Miles (60 Km) - passing through Enfield. Food stops at Mother Hubbards (about 30 miles from Dublin) or Harry's Kinnegad. In Kinnegad turn left for Galway in centre of town. Head for Athlone - 40 miles (65 Km) passing through Rochfortsbridge,Tyrellspass,Kilbeggan and Moate. Follow bypass around Athlone and head for Galway - 54 miles (88 Km) passing through Aughrim, Ballinasloe and Loughrea.

Rosslare - Galway
N25, N24, N18 - 160 Miles (256 Km). From the ferry head for Wexford N25. From Wexford head for New Ross N25 approx 20 miles (32 Km). From new Ross head for Clonmel N25/N24 via Waterford approx 20 miles (32 Km) passing through Carraig-on-Suir. From Clonmel take bypass and head for Limerick via Tipperary N24. From Limerick head for Ennis on then N18 and follow route as above.
