About Sleepzone Connemara

Sleepzone Connemara is a sister hostel of the highly-rated Sleepzone in Galway City (Best Hostel in Ireland 2006 - Hostelworld Awards)

Overlooking The Killary - Ireland's only fjord - and surrounded by the peaks of The Twelve Bens, Maumturk and Mweelrea mountains in the centre of Connemara, it is probably one of the most spectacularly situated hostels anywhere in Western Europe.

Sleepzone Connemara offers a range of accommodation in private and dormitory rooms (over 100 beds in 21 rooms) - all ensuite, free Internet and WiFi access, bureau de change, tourist information as well as a residents' bar, self-catering kitchen, mini-store, cable TV, and its own tennis court.

Another of its attractions is that it is situated right next door to the Killary Adventure Company, so a range of adventure activities and outdoor pursuits are available literally on its doorstep.

It's also a great base for some of Connemara's most fantastic walks and hikes and bike rental is also available.

If activity doesn't appeal to you though, the serenity of the location of Sleepzone Connemara is an attraction in itself.

Directions

Driving: Sleepzone Connemara is approximately 35 miles from Galway City.

From Galway City take The Clifden road (N59), go through the towns of Moycullen and Oughterard. At Maam Cross (Peacock's Hotel) turn right and head for Maam and then the village of Leenane. Sleepzone is 6km past Leenane (on the Clifden Road) - you will see a sign on the right hand side, indicating the turn to Sleepzone.

Inagh Valley: An alternative (slightly longer drive but very beautiful) route is via the Inagh Valley. From Galway, go straight through Maam Cross as far as Recess. At Recess take the right turn marked Inagh Valley. At the end of this road turn right again. Drive about 6 km and you will see the sign indicating the turn to Sleepzone Connemara on your left!

By Bus:


Bus Eireann offers a daily service to Leenane in summer and twice weekly in winter. check out www.buseireann.ie

Galway Tour Company offers a daily year-round coach tour of Connemara and facilitate a jump-off/jump-on again the next day to finish the tour in conjunction with Sleepzone .
