The Boat Inn is situated in the centre of Oughterard village, often known as the gateway to Connemara, on the banks of Lough Corrib, the world famous salmon and trout lake.

Oughterard is situated approx half an hour from galway city by car or bus.
From Galway city take the n 59 which is the clifden road,buses running to clifden or carna or oughterard will take you there.
Galway city hosts its own airport. There is a bus service that runs from galway to oughterard and through to cliffden. It is a straight run by road from galway to oughterard passing through moycullen.
