Originally a shooting lodge 16km from Cahir, this hostel is set in a lovely area of forests in the Galtee Mountains where wild deer and other animals roam.

A beautiful circular former shooting lodge owned by Lady Beatrice Pole Carew and Lady Constance Butler. This is a gas lit hostel and there is a solid fuel stove which provides central heating to the dorms.

Enjoy a truly unique hostelling experience in this Tipperary Hostel.

This is the 2nd of our gaslit hostels. The entire area has a wealth of attractions like the Rock of Cashel, Swiss Cottage and Mitchelstown Caves.

Directions

Road/Car: The youth hostel is signposted and is half-way between Cahir and Mitchelstown on the N8.

Bus: Bus Eireann: From Cork, Athlone or Dublin - Cork services. Alight at the gate of the youth hostel, which is half-way between Cahir and Mitchelstown. The youth hostel is 2km from the road.
