About Paintshop Hostel

The Paintshop Hostel is Figueira da Foz's first & only international Backpackers hostel, located in a traditional Portuguese town house, a stone's throw from Europe's widest beach and the bars & clubs of this popular Atlantic surfing resort.

First seen on the UK channel 4 TV show 'A Place in the Sun', we offer budget accommodation with private double rooms, twin rooms and 2, 4 or 6 bed dorms. If you are on a van trip, park-up nearby and use the kitchen/showers for a reduced rate.

You can cater for yourselves in our well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, or fill up on delicious food and local vinho at the many nearby bars and restaurants. Figueira da Foz has restaurant's for all budgets - you won't want to miss the local restaurant's special offer of 'all you can eat plus a jug of wine for ?7.50' which runs all summer. If you feel like staying in and relaxing we have heaps of DVDs and there is also satellite TV in both the hostel and the bar. We have an internet cafe where you can surf the internet, charge your ipod, upload your photos and there's a pool table in the hostel plus a free book exchange to keep you entertained.

The newly opened Paintshop bar is a great place to kick back and meet both locals and travellers and on Friday nights get ready for the 'Paintshop Bar Crawl' hosted by whichever staff member is lucky enough to be 'on duty'!

If you are on your own or travelling in a group make sure to ask about the large number of activities in and around the town. Go-karting, tennis, surf school, 5-a-side football (for the more active), salsa classes or art workshops (for the more creative) or talk to the hostel staff about arranging a bbq night in our courtyard.

The Paintshop hostel is relaxed and comfortable, known for its friendly welcome, laid back atmosphere, excellent facilities and access to the local surf and night spots!
