Property Description
The Hotel Saanerhof in Saanen celebrated its first centenary in 2005. It was one of the first hotels in the Saanenland as building work commenced even before the arrival of the train in 1904.
The establishment opened its doors on August 1st 1905 and was the first hotel with electric light throughout. Peter Matti acquired the hotel in 1936.
His daughter, Susanne Matti, and her husband Jürg Neuenschwander took over the reins in 1979. Centrally located opposite the station, the restaurant serves a wide variety of food, including local specialities and is a favourite with both locals and visitors.
In summer it is pleasant to have coffee, a drink or even a small snack in the shade of the trees on the garden terrace.
The Neuenschwander-Matti family has been at the helm for 70 years now and it is to be hoped that one of the five sons will take over the family business.
