   I'm making my first trip to Greece at the end of May. Looking for tips on the best way to get around the Greek Islands and some destination suggestions. I'm traveling from Italy and thinking about taking a boat straight to Greece. Anyone done this? Good experience, bad?

   I took a ferry from Venice to Athens in 2002 and had a nice time. You can do this on the super cheap, if you don't require a room and don't mind sleeping on the upper deck! (There's usually some protection) I think the name of the ferry was BlueLine or something like that. I splurged on a small room. It ended up taking two nights to get there, which surprised me.
   
   Overall, I had a lot of fun, spent most of the time on the upper deck reading and drinking beer. The total cost, however, was more expensive then if I had flown, I'm pretty sure. And when you arrive in Greece, you're exhausted, but happy.
