   I'm planning to have a short visit trip to Spain, I'd like to know where is the best area to have a drink and meet people. I'm willing to stay close to the center of the city, any good spot around there? What about Puerta del Sol, Anything around that area?

   If you can get accommodation close to Puerta del Sol, you got it! Around that area there are many good spots. Stop by around Huertas st or Santa Ana square for a drink (east of Puerta del Sol).
   Going west following Mayor st you can reach Mayor square with many typical places for tapas, and always is something going on in that square. Also you can go west by Arenal st untill Opera st area, which is a good area also.
   If you don't mind walking, go north through Montera st, crossing Gran Via st you will reach Hortaleza st and Fuencarral st, area known as the Gay neighborhood, plain of shops good restaurants and parties. Walk around!
