The Oasis Backpacker's Hostal sits right on top of busy Plaza Encarnacion and is teeming with young travelers enjoying its state-of-the-art facilities including a kitchen, grill, Jacuzzi, and Internet stations. We especially loved the rooftop porch swing, the cityscape view, and the exposed-brick facade next door.
Most rooms are dorm-style with bunkbeds. 54 beds are dispersed throughout nine rooms, only one of which is a double. All rooms are en suite. Oasis throws parties three times a week.
The in-house cook makes a two-course dinner for anyone who wants free grub or a free glass of Sangria. Afterwards the hostel staff leads a group to a flamenco show, sometimes, a whacked-out bar where the house's specialty drink is called the "Blood of Jesus Christ." Other group activities include trips to the flea market and tapas bars.
