Interlaken is Europe's number 1 destination for adventure and fun - summer or winter, we will find a way to make you happy! A welcoming place for everybody.
We are able to provide you with rafting, canyoning, skydiving, bungy-jumping or hiking tracks around our area espiacally in the microcosmos Grindelwald.
In the middle of the Bernes Oberland we are placed in the heart of Interlaken. You are going to find a marvelous place with a terrace where you can see the swiss pyramid with a astonishing small place to chill out.
The Hotel is in a traditional house with a big history. We are situated in Unterseen which is a part of Interlaken.
In a short time you might reach every Hub to enjoy the whole Bernese Oberland.
We do have a classic restaurant with various cheap dishes and 15 rooms. The first and the second floor are the hotel rooms. The third floor is the backpacker floor, they do have a terrace and most rooms have the shower inside.
Nearby is the tamarindo lounge where people can chill out or have coffe or cook something in the microwave or having a nice chilli con carne in the eavening times.
After that there is the jamming corner - about 5 mins - or
you might go out for one of the many clubs.
nterlaken's main street is the long "Höheweg" with a train station at each end (Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West). And the centrepiece of the Höheweg is the Höhematte, where the vista opens out over the green meadow towards the mountains, with the unique view of the Jungfrau. A wide promenade with shady trees and restaurants invites you to linger.
Japanese Garden. This is Switzerland's first Japanese Garden (designed in 1995 by a Japanese landscape gardener). Next to the Interlaken Hotel on Höheweg.
Unterseen adjoining Interlaken north of West station is an atmospheric village. It houses some of the area's oldest buildings, and the square in front of the Amtshaus off Untere Gasse is particularly picturesque. You reach Unterseen by strolling along the Aare river.
SBB Historic Foundation Exhibition at Rugenparkstrasse 24 (close to Interlaken West Station - open only in summer from April 29th until October 21st ) will connect you to more than 150 years of Swiss railway history. An exhibition not only for a railway buff, but also for a rail engineer, a transportation historian or just plain lover of trains (with model railway exhibition). Open daily from 11 am ? 5 pm (July until mid-August from 10 am ? 5 pm); admission CHF 10.-
See how chocolate is made and try your hand at becoming a chocolatier! The chocolate show is held Mon ? Fri at 4, 5, and 6 pm at Grand Restaurant Schuh at Höheweg 56. Duration of the show is 20 minutes. Entrance fee CHF 10.- (redeemable on purchase or consumption of min. CHF 10.- at the Restaurant Schuh or any of the Kirchhofer stores!).
A funicular rises from behind the Ost station through the woods to the Harderkulm (1,310m), offering vistas over the town, both lakes and a panorama of snowy peaks close enough to touch!
On the other side of town, some 500 m south of West Station, a unique, nostalgic funicular takes you to the top of Heimwehfluh ? also called the top of Interlaken (670 m / 2,196 ft), where you'll be sure to enjoy a fabulous view.
Rent a bicycle and explore the area on your own. Many local suppliers (ask at your hostel) offer bike rental and will be happy to give you tips on making the most of your pedal-powered excursion. A biker's map about the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfau area, with over 400 km of bike-roads, is available at Interlaken's tourist office.
The Interlaken holiday region is a hiker's paradise! At the tourist office you will find a few suggestions for short and longer hikes. Or do you want to do a walk on one of the interesting theme paths around Interlaken? Get your detailed hiking map at the tourist information!
On hot summer days take bus no. 6 (direction Thun) to the Interlaken "beach" at Neuhaus! Another good place for bathing is Lake Brienz, one of the cleanest lakes in Switzerland. But be warned, the water's really cold!
The St-Beatus-Caves, Switzerland's first and only underground cave museum - spectacular but safe. Explore this mysterious maze of stalactites, stalagmites, lakes and waterfalls to a depth of 3,000 metres. From Interlaken by ship, car, bus - or on foot along the historic pilgrims' path (1 hour walk from Interlaken). Open April 9th ? Oct 15th , 1.30 ? 5 pm. It can get cold in the caves, so bring something warm to wear.
