Copenhagen neighborhoods

Around the Station & Tivoli

Located in the center of town, the Central Station is a hub for tourists and business travelers alike. The area is also home to many of the city’s budget hotels. The Town Hall Square, Copenhagen’s main shopping street, and the famous Tivoli Gardens amusement park are all within short walking distance of the station. While its central location is a big plus, the hood is the city’s Red Light District by nightfall. Though slightly seedy, the area is well populated and perfectly safe.

Frederiksberg

A leafy, residential neighborhood west of Old Town, Frederiksberg is technically a separate town. However, the area is very much connected to Copenhagen, both in immediate proximity and the laid-back, bike-friendly feel. The hood is also home to the Frederiksberg Slot, a royal palace dating back to the 18th century, and the Carlsberg Museum.

Near The Little Mermaid

One of Copenhagen’s greenest and quietest neighborhoods, Frederiksstaden sits on the northeast end of town. The area’s main draw is the Little Mermaid statue, perched on a rock near the Kastellet Park. Frederiksstaden also boasts the Amalienborg Slot, home to the Danish royal family.
