"sketchy hostel"

hotel baccarat has a nice looking reception, and a nice lounge, however everything else is pretty sketchy. When we arrived we were 'upgraded' to a double room, but the payoff was no hot water in the shower, and the toilet was broken, and appeared to have been so for several days judging from the amount of urine already in there. Also, the neighborhood is a little bit sketchy, and not a safe place for girls to go out at night.

About the Hostel Baccarat neighborhood
South of Nice’s train station, you’ll find plenty of budget hotel picks. The downside is that the area has a slightly seedy edge. The beach is nearby, about 20 minutes away on foot.
