Located near Budapest’s central Oktogon and Liszt Ferenc squares, the Unity Hostel offers guests the choice of dorms or private rooms. Each floor has a shared bathroom. Linen is free, along with breakfast, Internet, and use of the guest kitchen. Unity serves free goulash on the first Sunday of each month. There’s a roof terrace and a common area with a TV.

Unity hostel, although a little hard to find, is an amazing place to stay. It is clean, well decorated (to the point of even having trendy decor!), and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It is tucked back off the street so its not too loud at night. The ONLY drawback that I could find was that there is only one bathroom with showers in it, meaning girls and guys shower in the same room, which can be a little awkward if you are not comfortable with that sort of thing. other than that, it is a GREAT place to stay!!

About the Unity Hostel neighborhood

While Erzsebetvaros was a Jewish neighborhood up to World War II, the only reminder of its past is the Moorish-style Great Synagogue. The rest of the area is characterized by Soviet-era buildings and local businesses. Come nightfall, Erzsbetvaros is nightlife central, with cafes, bars, and restaurants keeping things hopping.
