Hrad & Around

The area around the Hrad, Bratislava’s castle, is full of museums and charming, winding streets. North of the castle, you’ll find hilly residential hoods and Baroque architecture. Walk south of the castle and you’ll reach the Danube River.

Nivy & East of Stare Mesto

East of Staré Mesto and bordered by the Danube to the south, this hood boasts Soviet-era architecture along with some charming parks. Though it’s not a tourist hot-spot, a jaunt into this neighborhood is worthwhile, provided you take a tram.

Staré Mesto

Bratislava’s most central and tourist-friendly hood, Stare Mesto is the city at its loveliest. Winding streets, a mix of architectural styles, and lively bars and restaurants make for a lively scene. Neighborhood highlights include the Slovak National Theater, the St. Martin’s Cathedral, and Michael’s Gate, the medieval gateway to Bratislava.
