  • The Red Boat Malaren is a floating hotel compromised in - you guessed it - boats that are docked just west of Centralbon, the bridge leading to historic Gamla Stan. It's a hefty walk to the rest of the hood, up the hill, and a few blocks east.
     
    Rooms not facing the water, face a wide, somewhat busy road, so try to get a room on the waterfront to get a nice view and some more peace and quiet. There are 47 varying rooms, ranging from en suite to dorm. En suite rooms, are the newest and nicest ones, and are referred to as "hotel" rooms. "Hostel" rooms on the other hand, are smaller and have shared showers and toilets, and are decorated in red.
     
    Sheets are provided, but towels and breakfast cost extra. Beds and rooms are narrow and some rooms are darker than others.

The Red Boat Mälaren is a cosy river side hostel and hotel aboard two lovely boats in the heart of Stockholm, within walking distance of everything.

It is located where Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea meet, where you can watch boats passing through the lock, take a stroll down the small alleys in the historical Old Town only five minutes walk from the boat, or you can have a beer in one of several pubs on Södermalm.

During the summer you will find one of the best views of Stockholm from our own floating restaurant, Oasis.
You can also sit outside on the red boat.

Staying at our hostel you can choose to have a calm and relaxing time or enjoy an eventful stay full of happenings. You can spend the days in one of many shopping areas. If you get tired of that you can visit any of the museums or art galleries close by. And in the evening you can go from one pub/club to another without having to spend a lot of time or money getting from one place to another. We also have a small bar in the Hostel lobby if you just prefer to stay on the hostel.

Our reception is open from 8.00am to 11.00pm. Late check in is possible. The hostel is staffed 24/7. As the main doors are locked in the night you will receive a code when you check in, so that you can come and go as you please.

We will serve you a breakfast buffet every morning between 7.30 and 10.00am In the weekdays and between 08.00 and 11.00 in the weekends. (This is not included in the quoted prices.)

We have beds in 10, 4, 3, 2 and single bed rooms.

We are sorry to inform you that we do not have cooking facilities due to the risk of fire, but we do have a Cafeteria and in the summertime we also have the outdoor restaurant Oasis.

Showers and toilets are in the corridor for our hostel guests.

Before you check in or after you leave you can keep your luggage in our luggage room.

We are open 365 Days a year.

We have internet access for our guests.

No Hostel membership is required.

We can also arrange garage for your car during the stay.
