Hradcany

Located on the western edge of town, this area boasts Prague’s famous castle. The Strahov Monastery and the Renassaince-era Schwarzenberg Palace are here as well. The hood is quiet and picturesque, with hills and beautiful views. The accommodation options in Hradcany are less than plentiful, though a few deals are to be had.

Mala Strana - Lesser Town

Located east of Hradcany and the Prague Castle, Mala Strana is charming and quaint. Expect sloping, cobblestone streets and striking views as you make your way down to the Charles Bridge. The area is home to many embassies as well as the peaceful Kampa Park.

Nove Mesto - New Town

Nove Mesto is the lively heart of Prague, with plenty of cheap hotels and a slew of tourist attractions. The area boasts Wenceslas Square, the National Museum, and some striking architecture. Old Town Square, about a 20-minute walk away, offers more old-school architecture.

Stare Mesto - Old Town

Stare Mesto is Prague’s Old Town, and it is the area of most interest to tourists. The hood is home to the city’s former Jewish district, Josefov, and it has no shortage of elegant buildings. Souvenir shops and nightlife venues crowd the streets, as do hotels. Keep in mind that the area is packed during high season.

Vinohrady

Southeast of Stare Mesto, the Vinohrady neighborhood is packed with art nouveau buildings and cute cafes. The area is home to the Church of the Sacred Heart along with many other impressive architectural works. Vinohrady is popular with locals, who come here for the cheap wine and the sceney nightlife.

Zizkov

This is an arty district on the east side of Prague. The area is home to a variety of parks, as well as the Prague University of Economics.
