  • The Zeus Hostel may be one of the more rustic hostels in Europe. But, even though it's not Prince Charming's castle, it still has its perks. If all you need is a safe place to crash in a great central location near the famous meat and fish market, Omonia Square, Monastiraki, and Psiri, then the Zeus is OK.

The 34 bare, white-walled dorm-style rooms at Zeus fit four people, typically in two bunk beds. The rooms come with a desk too in case you have to catch up on homework (Wait, aren't you on vacation?). If you've been eating too much feta cheese, fear not - you'll shed the pounds climbing the steep stairs to your room. Note: Rooms are available for only female roommates. Doubles are also available. Be weary though there's an extra charge if you pay with a credit card.

  • Not an amazing deal. Quite warm in August (no AC). Had the windows open to cool off and thus had to deal with a VERY noisy street. Bathrooms and rooms very clean, but beds hard.
