  • This little 17th century, yellow hostel, situated on the narrow Rua do Duque, is near both the Barrio Alto and Rossio Square and is a great place to chill, especially if you're not a party animal. The eight rooms (and one suite) of Poets gives off an intimate vibe not usually found in the hostel scene.

The décor is quite pleasant. A combination of traditional Portuguese features like hardwood floors and ceramic-tiled walls, and IKEA-style accessories lend a fun, modest vibe.

Rooms are furnished simply with bunk beds and sleep anywhere from three to six people. The studio "suite" which sleeps three, comes decked out with its own bath, kitchen, living area, and cable TV.

In case you don't get that privilege, a kitchen is available to all the guests and they'll even do your laundry for you. The reception follows the same type of modernism with hipster beanbag chairs and a lending library in a pretty conventional setting. A free Internet station is available for your use, but you'll have to find it, amidst the retro light fixtures.
