Walking from the metro station to the hostel we passed one trendy restaurant and bar after another, and were disappointed that there'd be no way we'd have time to try them all. At the hostel itself we were a little put off by all the graffitti on the door, but we soon learned that just about all of Berlin is graffittied, and the trashy exterior belied a very comfortable interior, with lots of facilities, including a kitchen in our private 2-bed room. Probably the nicest hostel we stayed at in Europe.
