Monti & Colosseo

Colosseo and Monti boasts an artsy vibe, and plenty of trendy shops and galleries are to be found here. There’s also a good selection of bars and restaurants, mostly centered on Via Serpenti.

Near the Vatican

On the west side of town, the Vatican and Prati area is famous for the gorgeous St. Peter’s Basilica. The Vatican itself, of course, is another neighborhood highlight. The hipper Trastevere district is just to the south.

North of the Station

The area north of Rome’s Termini Station is by no means the most charming part of the city. However, it is packed with affordable, and often charming, hotels. Walk west to reach the Piazza della Republica.

South of the Station

The area south of Termini Station is home to the ornately designed Santa Maria Maggiore church. You’ll also find plenty of cute restaurants and bars along the winding streets. This hood has a cleaner, less sketchy vibe than the area north of the station.

Spanish Steps

This hood boasts Rome’s Spanish Steps, a locale popular with tourists and locals looking to relax. The Piazza di Spagna is also home to the Trevi Fountain and countless expensive shops.
