The Flying Pig Downtown Hostel is located on one of the Red Light District's busiest shopping streets and sits next to Amsterdam’s Central Station. Beds here are cheap and in the middle of it all.

Dorms are equipped with either twin- or queen-size bunk beds that have personal reading lights attached to them. Linens and breakfast are included in the nightly rate. There’s a shower and toilet in most rooms. Private suites come with a mini-fridge and TV.

There’s an on-site guest kitchen. The hostel offers free Wi-Fi, discounts to area clubs and and hosts local DJ’s in an on-site bar twice a week. Please note that you must be between 18-40 to stay here.

This is a great hostel if you're into the party/drug scene in Amsterdam, and a okay/good one if you're just into seeing the sights. Everyone is very friendly, they have a room for smoking, you can get smoker's tour books, they have a bar downstairs, that kind of thing. However, if you're above the age of 22-23 and/or aren't really into the whole party scene, this might not be the best place. The smell of pot pretty much permeates the place, but the location is excellent and the staff is really nice. Oh, and the beds aren't half bad, and everything is very clean.

About the Flying Pig Downtown neighborhood

The most touristy section of town, the Old Center is home to the Dam Square, the Royal Palace, and the Niewmarkt. In addition to the photo-op attractions, marijuana-peddling "coffee shops" and endless crowds give the neighborhood an energetic, chaotic vibe.
